Hmmm...
I have to admit, I'm curious as to what Materazzi said to annoy Zidane so. From a peek on the BBC website this morning, it was "something very serious". Wash your mouth out with soap and water, that man!!
I agree, it was the ony thing interesting about the game! I am really curious as to what he said. If you watch the replay you can see the red mist decend just after he walks away... the fist clenches, he spins on his heel and BAM - Goat Boy!
I felt sorry for him; what a way to end your career. People are going to remember him for this incident for ages.
Should have known better though; I can understand it coming from a lad like Rooney, but a player with Zidane's experience should never have risen to it, no matter how bad the comment.
Interesting to see what he says about the whole thing.
Were you Gareth? Good for you! - if you see my earlier mention of the Battle of the Somme, my grandfather was fighting for the Gorden Highlanders at the time:
Still, so you know, there was a bit of headbutting in the World Cup final... Actually, I've no idea how tall "Zizou" is, Sal - but it's also coming to light what it was all about. Turns out the Italian was bad mouthing Zizou's mum and she was seriously ill and had just been admitted to hospital before the match.
Gareth's comments about the Somme actually refer to the fact that he has been wading in mud at "T in the Park" rather than your more literal interpretation!

Eh? What are we talking about? Remember I was re-enacting the Battle of the Somme in a field in Central Scotland!!

Hey, it's the thought that counts. PLus, I get to revel in a littel Scottishness. :-)
