Well, actually, not a burning issue at all. Quite the opposite. And not that much of an issue as if I really, really cared, I'd check myself, but I thought I'd take the lazy option and ask you guys. Plus, I can't really do this in my own fridge back at the house (And everyone was so helpful with the queries below).
But this morning, I discovered that my "office" milk had gone off several days earlier than it should have done. I blame the fridge we've got here for not being set high enough. So, my question: If fridge controls are labelled from 1 to 6, does turning it *up* - i.e. stronger, cooler - involve turning the controls to six (for more power) or to 1 (for less heat)?
See, if I really cared, I'd crank it up to six and check again later. ;-)

Higher Number = Colder Fridge.
If you set it on 6 then stuff near the back will freeze!
I knew it. ;-)
Cheers Jase.
I've always wanted to know this too, but been too embarassed to ask!! :)
Our fridge is a bit more up to date... you just set the temperature and it handles the power, regulating it as necessary. Hell, it even bleeps when you leave the door open!
Gareth - you are clearly one of those people who sets their fridge on 3.5 and reckons they are covered! :p
Ha-ha, yes but things near the back do freeze!! It's a very old fridge and since there is no LCD display anywhere I'm scared from it.
I need a proper display and readout before I reckon I know what it's doing....
...same goes for my washing machine, how it works by flicking two switches to 'down' and turning a big dial to '4' I'm really not sure....
Is this how you write your papers, Dr Jackson? 'I can't be arsed to do my experiment so I'll just ask around and see what I come up with?'.

He is a Psycologist.... Doing research means asking questions around a lot!
His earlier research into Lager and Salt & Vineger crisps is legendary in North Yorkshire! He pioneered the field.
Myself... I am a beer and crisp tart! Flit from make to make, flavour to flavour, week in and week out!
Ooooh, who deleted their comment??
Sounds like my fridge (at home) is just like yours Jase. Certainly, my salt & vinegar research continues apace - I like Real McCoys, crunchy!
I like that idea of yours, Sal. Maybe I should just join YouGov or something... ;-)
I hate when someone buys crips in a pub and then insists on ripping the pack open lengthways and sitting it in the middle of table!!
Eat your own bloody crisps and don't let me smell them either...
Noted for future ref Gareth!
I deleted my comment as there were more typos than I could admit to!
